Hey everyone!
If you haven't read the summary, this post is about the soundtrack for this game.
It comes with no surprise that a big inspiration for our game is the Portuguese music that was passing by at the time. While this will be the pillar for our sound, we want to acentuate the feeling they bring, also including the songs that sprung out after the dictatorship, as freedom ensued.
Let's get the obvious things out of the way, by talking about "Grândola Vila Morena" by Zeca Afonso (Youtube.com). This song is the most known for the revolution that ended the dictatorship. We bring this specific song up, as it is what people would assume we'd use for inspiration, and in part they are correct, but not exclusively.
The core of My Rosemary's soundtrack is based on the following main objectives, having to at least fulfill one.
- The song must contain either a guitar (Preferably a portuguese guitar);
- must evoke some feeling of numbness or grief;
- must feel faintly similar to other songs at the time, must not contain a lot of instruments;
- must fit the general cohesive view and match the feelings of the visual artstyle;
A portuguese guitar ("Guitarra-Portuguesa")
Of course when we mention the use of guitars we would prefer to have a real one being played. This will not be possible, as we will be using FL Studio as the tool to make the whole soundtrack. We'll be using only MIDI instruments and no real recordings, for both lack of time and skill to play this instrument. Our songs will mostly be intrumentals only, for similar reasons.

The soundtrack will mostly be produced around the production phase, which will commence after the 4th of May. In that time we'll be posting some sneak peaks of the songs that are being produced, to keep you readers updated.
Here are some songs we'll be taking inspiration from:
